About the Corvallis Guide
I first moved to Corvallis in 1970, after graduating from Albany Union High School and doing brief stints at college and working at the Inn at Spanish Head in Lincoln City. I lived in several budget locations, most notably a 4th-floor room in the historic Julian Hotel at the corner of second and Monroe. Now it is on the National Register but back then it was just a very cheap place to live.
Pursuit of jobs and an education took me to Eugene, then Portland and Silicon Valley. But always part of me was back in the Willamette Valley. When my dad, still living in Albany, had a heart attack in fall of 2004, I knew it was time to come home. I moved back to Corvallis in January of 2005 and haven't regretted it once.
